Reflections

Journal 22: I am enjoying this project so far! I initiated a group chat so that our group could be able to communicate easily. We really took a laissez-faire approach to the project, or at least that is how I interpreted our approach. Right now, I have been working on the company’s services and have found some of the graphics. For the few “vision” decisions we have had to make, we didn’t really communicate our way through the best vision, someone just made an executive decision. The one positive from that is that we can move our work along quickly and everyone has made one of those decisions. I think our group has been really open with communication so I don’t think I will have to deal with someone that isn’t being collaborative, at least in this project. I am terrible at confrontation and HATE conflict. In the past when I had someone that wasn’t collaborating, I have been really passive-aggressive, which in hindsight is not the most professional approach. Most of the time I don’t feel truly passionate about my ideas and I am open to compromise, so I have always met in the middle or followed the other lead. Only in situations where I think the other way is not the way to go do I vocalize my uneasiness about the direction we are working in

Journal 23: This was honestly one of the most cohesive group projects that I have done. I felt like everyone pulled their own weight and I wasn’t stressed out about the final outcome. It was definitely an interesting experience working through this project in a mostly asynchronous form. It felt good to be working in a more “professional” manner. Graphic design, especially, as a group was a bit difficult because we all had our individual visions for the project. Overall, things worked well when people made an executive decision in the times when we were unsure how to move forward. I felt productive in making this project come to life.
